Day 16 – New Pots!

Alright, this is not being posted on Day 16, but this is what I did on Day 16!

I decided the Blue Borage was going crazy in that little peat pot, so it was time to give it a new home! Since I was getting everything ready I figured the cucamelon could be moved as well. The peat pots are actually being really difficult, as they are wet and then suddenly super dry with wilty plants in the same day, so I’m glad I moved the cucamelon over.

Let’s get everything together! Some potting soil, along with a bigger plant for the Blue Borage, and a smaller container for cucamelon. The cucamelon will do a crazy vine thing so I’m working on what to use as a trestle or cage for it still.

I chose pots that drain. Well, the bigger pot I drilled a hole in so that it could drain out – I’m not good with plants so I’d like to avoid overwatering them!

Fill everything up with soil and let’s move some plants in!

Moving the borage into it's new home!

Everything is all planted! Hopefully it’s happy with me. I split up the borage but definitely ripped some roots in the process… oops.

I’ll be moving over the mint and lemon balm super soon! Actually, it may be tonight or tomorrow! The mint isn’t very big yet, but it has 2 sets of leaves.. and I feel I can take better care of it in soil rather than these peat pucks I used. The Lemon Balm is most definitely ready for a new home!

Bizz Gardening: Day 12 – Real Plants!

Today is Day 12 of my Road to Mojitos journey, and we have some real plants on the way! I’m proud to show that ALL plants are sprouted and showing signs of greowth!

The Blue Borage is going crazy and I feel like I should be transplanting it to a real pot soon. I may just do that sometime this weekend.

The Mint has finally sprouted and I hope to keep it alive and well!

Cucamelon had a few sprouts fall to the wayside, but I am holding out hope for what is left!

Day 4... I don't remember which plant

Bizz Gardening: Day 5 – Sprouts!

It’s only day 5 of my gardening to mojitos journey and we already have sprouts! This is looking good! I actually intended to put a post up yesterday, but didn’t have time. Bit glad I waited as we had more plants sprout today!

So one of the herbs I had never heard of in my Plant Theatre Cocktail Kit was Blue Borage, and it was already sprouting yesterday!

That was on day 4, and yeah… I thought they were molding, but they were definitely sprouting! Let’s take a look at the Blue Borage from today!

Blue Borage - Day 5

Oh boy, there’s quite a lot…

That’s not all though! On day 5 we have a TON of things sprouting!

Unfortunately, my little mint plants have yet to make an appearance. I still have hope for my mint though, as google says it could take 2 weeks for them to germinate and sprout!

Mint Day 5

Go little mint, go!

So far I’m quite pleased that so much has sprouted, but oh my there’s a lot of seeds in each and it looks for the most part that a ton are germinating!

I think I’ll be looking for pots to put these in soon, as well some soil! Have any suggestions? Leave it in the comments below!

Look! Even has a mojito on the box!

Bizz Gardening: Day 1 – Road to Mojitos!

So at my bridal shower we had a tupperware party (I love tupperware) and I saw their Zest ‘N Press gadget! WOW! That would be amazing for mojitos! Of course I have one on the way… but what about the mint? It’s a bit pricey to buy those little packages at the store, and they just aren’t fresh.

I’ll grow some mint!

Amazon prime day came around and there was a little starter kit for cocktail herbs, which of course included mint! I was also excited to see it had basil as I use that a lot when I cook! So I ordered up the Plant Theatre Cocktail Garden kit. By the way, I signed up for Amazon affiliates so the links to Amazon in this post are affiliate links, meaning if you buy something after clicking them I receive a small commission.

Oh, I’m terrible with plants. I had one once that I almost never watered, and it lived many years.. then my mom watched it for me for a few months and it died…

So this should be an experience!

Let’s get started shall we? Let’s get everything out of this box!

Everything from my Plant Theatre cocktail herb kit!

Everything from my Plant Theatre cocktail herb kit!

Alright, looks easy enough. I’ll just read over these… instructions? Okay it’s like 99% drink recipes and 0.5% instructions (and 0.5% blank space). Really?

Something isn’t right here…

Wait a moment.. where’s the basil?!? I didn’t get basil? Well, I got 2 Lemon Balm… hope it’s good. I need to soak these little discs so they expand… my mom always told me rain water is best, so hold on. I’ll run into my neighbours back yard and get some rainwater from their rain barrel!

Alright, let’s rip apart some fake dirt!

Fake dirt is now under my fingernails!

Mint is most important? Let’s plant it first!

Perfect! The instructions say to cover all the seeds with a thin bit of this fake dirt, but google tells me otherwise for mint!

Seemed easy, let’s do the rest!

Tada! I now have planted all 5! I emailed Amazon about the missing Basil Seeds.. so I’m hoping I get sent some.

All done!

If you’re looking to pick up this kit and grow it along with me, just click my affiliate link and we can go on this journey together! Plant Theatre Cocktail Garden Kit

I’ll keep you posted on any updates, hopefully that means they sprout!

Oh something it mentioned was covering in plastic? I’m wondering if I should put these in ziploc bags while they germinate?
